Arthur Schopenhauer
A German philosopher who was deeply influenced by the ideas of the German Dominican theologian, mystic, and eclectic philosopher Meister Eckhart, the German mystic and theosophist Jakob Boehme, and other great scholars of the Renaissance and the Enlightenment. He is most famous for his work The World as Will and Representation. He is commonly known for having espoused a sort of philosophical pessimism that saw life as being essentially evil and futile.
